In a rapidly changing world, it’s important to have a point of reference that one can depend on. For shellfish growers on the west coast of America, one such information center is The Pacific Shellfish Institute.
Founded in 1995, the Institute sponsors research and projects that evaluate the ecology, health and possible dangers to the Shellfish Industry.
The Center also conducts research to evaluate the status of shellfish production as well as habitat restoration on the West Coast, including socio-economic assessments of the benefits and costs of shellfish production.
PSI supports sound science, broad partnerships and meaningful stakeholder collaboration. Their vision included healthy ecosystems and sustainable coastal communities that understand the ecological, economic, and social contributions of shellfish and shellfish aquaculture to the region.
